Vacation Bible School

storyteller burial prep Dana close.jpg If you were at MPC during the week of July 9-13 2007, you witnessed the transformation of our church into a ranch! We had over 200 children here for ‘Avalanche Ranch’  which presented a wild ride through God’s Word. Children heard Bible stories, learned Bible verses, and participated in many games and crafts. As our missions offering we sent over 200 teddy bears to orphaned children in Africa.

This ministry year Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be held July 7-11, 2008. VBS is open to children 4 years old to 3rd grade and is held Monday-Friday 9:30am-12:30pm. Children participate in fun activities involving crafts, games, songs, and Bible lessons. Contact Carolyn Sinclair at (703) 394.0568 or carolyn@mcleanpres.org for more information.

Putting Belief Into Action to Serve the Community

This summer during the week of Vacation Bible School, July 7-11, we will be running a separate camp for our community for the rising 4, 5, & 6th graders, the Awesome 654’s, that will involve their serving the community with various service projects. This concept first came alive three summers ago when the Awesome 654’s served as the VBS Service Brigade 2005, which ran concurrent with our VBS ministry.

We will again be using the book “WWJD: Kids at work in the real world” written by Donna Thurston which presents how to give kids an opportunity to serve their community and learn about Jesus. The camp, which will run from 9:30am-3pm every day during the week of VBS, will help teach the Awesome 654’s how they can not only make a difference during this exciting week of camp, but also everyday of their lives as they obey Christ’s command to “Love Your Neighbor.”

Contact Billy Robinson at 703.394.0575 or billy@mcleanpres.org for more information or to register. We also are in need of adults to assist us. If you would like to serve in this way, please contact Billy for more information.

Performing Arts Camp

For the 4th year in a row, The Leavening Agency joined us for a week-long performing arts camp. Almost 60 kids took part in singing, dancing, scenery production, acting, and fellowship. The week ended with the production “Amen Alley” with the kids showing family and friends all their hard work and talent!

This year’s camp will be held August 4-8, 2008. Performing Arts Camp runs from 9-3pm Monday-Friday, with a final performance on Friday evening. Camp is open to children 3rd grade through 6th grade. Registration will open on March 1.  (Registration is not considered complete until we have received your payment and the medical form which is available to download on the registration page). Contact: Billy Robinson (703) 394.0575 or billy@mcleanpres.org for more information.
