Mclean Presbyterian Church

Students

Our ministry exists to aid you as parents of 7-12th grade students at MPC, because our goal is to see your students glorify God in their lives. By partnering with you in ministry we can help to make them into disciples who make a difference in the greater metro Washington D.C. area and the world.

WHY?

We understand that trying to raise a child as a Christian in the world today can be extremely tough. We want you to know that the battles you face as parents are worth the effort. We also want to help you. Ultimately, true help comes only from the Lord. But we are very familiar with the struggles that you and your children are facing and our goal is to help you get through this battle through partnership with you, Biblical discipleship, encouragement, and ultimately God-centered relationships, which point us all to Jesus.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOUR STUDENTS

A Steady Presence…

  • Sunday Mornings – called ‘Free Refills’ – where we meet with all students (7-12th grade) for a time of food, fellowship and focus on God’s Word. (Year-round at 9:15am in the Multi-purpose Room).
  • Sunday Nights – A large group discipleship setting where we meet for an exciting time of music, fun, food, fellowship, and a Gospel-centered talk aimed at meeting students ‘where they are’ in life. (BLAST – 7-8th grade students – meets from 5-7pm in The Lodge. Breakthrough – 9-12th grade students – meets 5-7pm in the Multi-purpose Room).
  • Small Groups – Discipleship Groups, or D-Groups, are the core of our relationship building and the most important aspect of our ministry. They provide a way for students to encounter Jesus Christ in a smaller setting, connect with their peers in the Body of Christ on a deeper level, and be encouraged and challenged to grow in their faith by an adult leader.

Further Opportunities to Connect…

  • Retreats – We lead students on three retreats a year, which include an early fall retreat for BLAST students, a mid year retreat, and a spring retreat for Breakthrough students. This venue is a great way for us to connect further with your students, and their friends, as they are immersed in a Gospel-centered environment for the entire weekend, not to mention a lot of fun.
  • Mission Trips – Each summer we lead Breakthrough students on 2 short-term mission trips to develop their hearts for the lost as well as share in fellowship with believers from the U.S. and other parts of the world.
