“faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17
The mission of MPC’s Library is to provide and promote materials that will aid the spiritual development of individuals and families as well as offer a resource center for the various educational activities, Home Fellowship Groups, and discipleship programs of the church. The Library, located on the Upper Level, is open on Sunday and Thursday mornings, and circulates approximately 10,000 items in a typical year.
The Library Media Center maintains an extensive collection of over 7000 books, Bible study materials, video tapes and audio CDs for both children and adults. The collection contains Reformed Bible commentaries and books on theology, devotions, Christian life and practice, church history and biographies, as well as teaching video tapes and audio CDs. The children’s collection includes Bible study and Christian fiction books as well as religious oriented video tapes and audio CDs. Another popular feature of the Library is an extensive collection of family videos.
Materials in the Library are cataloged according to the Dewey decimal classification, the system used by the area’s school and public libraries. In addition, an online catalog has been developed to assist patrons search for materials they need.
All books, Bible study materials, tapes and CDs must be checked out if they are removed from the Library. MPC members and regular attenders are eligible to borrow materials, but are asked to first complete a patron’s registration form. Materials are due in two weeks, but generally can be renewed.
You may contribute to the Library by giving a cash donation in honor or memory of a teacher, leader, or loved one. If a donor requests it, appropriate dedication plates will be placed in the books purchased with such donated funds.
The Library ministry functions entirely through the efforts of volunteers. If you are willing to volunteer your time and talents by assisting with circulation on Sunday mornings or by processing new materials, please stop by the Library and speak with Linda or Ed Crump.
The MPC Library recently added an extensive collection of audio CDs that our patrons may borrow for a two week period.
For children, we now have a complete set of the popular Adventures in Odyssey series as well as classic works of Christian fiction performed by the Radio Theatre cast. For adults we offer audio CD versions of popular Christian books; talks and sermons by such Reformed leaders as Bryan Chapell, Sinclair Ferguson, D. James Kennedy; R. C. Sproul, and John Piper; recent worship services and conferences held at MPC; lectures by leading scholars at Reformed seminaries; and informative radio broadcasts of interviews with Christian leaders.
