AccessAbility Buddy Program Coordinator

  • This position provides weekly reminder calls to all buddies scheduled to serve for the upcoming Sunday services, assists with finding substitutes as needed, and produces a quarterly schedule for this program.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Averages 1 hour/week
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Administrative skills helpful

BLAST/Breakthrough Retreat Chaperone(s)

  • This position helps to plan & promote the retreat and enjoys fellowship with the students during the retreat.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Once a year over a weekend, plus time as needed to help plan
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Criminal background check; Have a desire to minister to Junior High & Senior High school students

Board of Women Member(s)

  • This position serves as a member of MPC’s Board of Women (BoW) which acts as a committee to address women’s concerns as well as work with the staff, Session & Diaconate to help raise awareness of, and address the needs of, women. Nominations are taken in early summer and training is held throughout the fall with installation in late winter.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Meets monthly as a Board; Based on committee assignment a member may also meet regularly with a Session or Diaconate sub-committee.
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member for 1+ years as well as BoW training class & examination by the Session.

Bulletin Assembler(s)

  • This position assembles the worship bulletin with inserts each week.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Approx. 2-3 hours each Thursday in church office
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender

Care Team Coordinator(s)

  • This position organizes the efforts of the Care Team, pairs Care Team members with care ‘assignments’, and facilitates two training sessions per year for Care Team members.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Approx. 1-5 hours weekly
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member

ESL Conversation Partner(s)/Tutor

  • This position talks with the students one-on-one to enhance student skills in listening, understanding, speaking, and pronunciation.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Flexible
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; No experience necessary; No foreign language skills necessary; Training is available from many sources

ESL Registrar

  • This position helps students complete the registration process, gives & scores placement tests, and receives registration fees.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1x/week on Wednesday from 9-11:45am; 1x/week on Thursday from 7-8pm
  • Service Prerequisites – None

Kingdom Kids Children’s Church Assistant(s)

  • This position assists the Children’s Church Leader in getting the children to the proper room. The Assistant also takes attendance and helps with the children as needed.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1 x/quarter, Sundays; 1 hour; Attend quarterly planning meetings for approx. 2 hours
  • Service Prerequisites -  MPC Member or Regular Attender; Must complete application and form for background check; Loves teaching children about worship and guiding them in how to worship

Kingdom Kids Sunday Morning Supervisor(s)

  • This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of Sunday morning programs while in progress.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1x/month on Sundays; Approx. 1.5 hours; Attend teachers meeting quarterly, approx. 2 hours
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Must complete application and form for background check; Loves being a resource, helping teachers & assistants, and enjoys greeting newcomers and getting children situated

Library Assistant(s)

  • Assists patrons with circulation of materials on Sunday.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1x/month on Sunday; 10:30-11:00am and/or 12:00-12:45pm
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Training provided

Men’s Ministry (Brothers in Christ) Emcee

  • This position will act as Emcee for each men’s ministry gathering; participate as a leadership team member; assist in planning and preparation for scheduled events; and help identify speakers for events.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Breakfasts occur the first Saturday of each month from 8-9:30am; Approx. 2-3 hours monthly for administrative details
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member (Elder preferred); Knowledgeable of speaker topics & speakers that are relevant to men; Good communication skills; Consistently attend ministry events

Men’s Ministry (Brothers in Christ) Communications Coordinator

  • This position directs communication between MPC and the men’s ministry to ensure all are informed for upcoming events. Communications consist of mass email, letter mailings, and flyer distribution.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1-2 hours/month; 20 minutes on Sundays between services
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member; Comfortable using PC’s; Consistently attend ministry events

Men’s Ministry (Brothers in Christ) Treasurer

  • This position works with MPC and the men’s ministry to ensure proper financial stewardship and allocation of funds for the men’s breakfast and other planned events.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Approx. 2 hours/month
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member; Ability to balance a checkbook; Consistently attend ministry events

Missionary Care Committee Members

  • Members of this committee familiarize themselves with a particular group of ministries that MPC supports, and serves them by reading newsletters & annual reports, through prayer, and by giving input on policy and funding decisions. Can also assist with volunteer activities like annual missions conference, participate in annual budget planning and review process, and attend luncheons and specially called meetings.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 2 year renewable term; Generally meet 1x month
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member; Interest in outreach and missions

Missions Correspondent

  • This position sorts through the correspondence that comes in from the mission field in a given month to find prayer points that should be included in our monthly ‘Notes from the Field’ section of our church website. These prayer summaries are used by many to keep up with our precious missions partners and to pray for them more effectively.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1-2 hours per month
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Basic computer & proofreading skills; Email access

Missions Display Team

  • Members of this team adapt photos and information about MPC missionaries, opportunities to serve, and upcoming events to be displayed in the Missions display case in the Grand Foyer.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1-3 hours approx. 1 wk/month
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Interest in outreach and missions; Basic computer skills, creativity a bonus!

Missions Children’s Conference Coordinator

  • This position works with the missions committee to make the theme of the conference real & accessible for children & families of MPC.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Conference in March; Hours vary but intensify as conference date arrives
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member; Interest in outreach and missions; Attend luncheons and specially called meetings

Planning Member(s) for Church-wide Edification Seminars

  • This position works as part of a team (led by the Board of Women) to help plan & execute church-wide edification events such as TRANSFORM, C.S. Lewis seminars and special-focus one-time-only events.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Varies by event
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender

Short-term Missions Trip Organizer(s)

  • This position coordinates administrative aspects of a short-term missions trip for MPC participants. This may include tasks such a pre-trip training or team-building, ticket purchases, assisting with fundraising activities, raising awareness within the congregation, ensuring that travel and logistics (while on the trip) are arranged, and planning debriefing exercises for the team after their return.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Hours vary
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member; Has previously taken a short-term missions trip; Good organizational skills; Participating in the trip NOT a requirement

Usher(s)

  • This position is responsible for greeting people upon entry to the Sanctuary for worship,  collecting & counting the offering, and counting worship attendance.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Generally serve during one service, once a month; approx. 2.0 hours/month
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member

Women’s Ministry Women’s Weekend Committee Member(s)

  • This position works together as a group of women to plan & execute the women’s annual retreat.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Event held annually in February; 1 meeting in November & December; 2 meetings in January; other times as necessary
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Skills in event planning and helpful but not required

Women’s Ministry Women’s Weekend Coordinator

Worship Special Events Coordinator

  • This position assists in organizing details of special visiting choirs or other music events. It may also include planning for receptions and securing housing for the visiting choirs.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Varies, up to 10 hours per event; Work can be done at home
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Good organizational skills a plus
