  • This position manages the buddy program, supervises buddies, and recruits volunteers.

AccessAbility Chair of Deaf Ministry & Outreach

  • This position schedules and coordinates interpreters; plans and implements bi-monthly deaf outreach events; and is the ministry liaison with other deaf ministries and deaf clubs/advocacy groups in the DC metro area.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Averages 2-3 hours/month
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Must be fluent in sign language; Must have some personal relationships with deaf individuals

AccessAbility Chair of Parent Support Group

  • This position plans, schedules, and organizes quarterly parent support group meetings and the annual family picnic for parent support group & buddies. Also provides ongoing support to newly identified special needs kids & their parents.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Averages 1 hour/month
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Must be the parent of a special needs child

AccessAbility Director

  • This position oversees all ministry functions including Parent Support Group, Deaf Ministry & Outreach, Buddy Program, & facility accessibility. With any vacant ministry positions, Director is responsible for completing critical tasks.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Averages 2-3 hours/week
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Adult Member; Has a heart for special needs children & adults (in and outside the church); Administrative skills helpful

AccessAbility Transportation Team Coordinator

  • This position organizes the schedule for the quarter, recruits team members as needed, assists with finding substitutes as needed, and produces quarterly schedule and contact list for this program.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Averages 1-2 hours/quarter
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender

BLAST/Breakthrough Logistical Coordinator

  • This position helps organize the logistics related to Sunday evening meetings, retreats, and D-Group meetings.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Prefer twice a month support as a minimum
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Criminal background check; Have a desire to minister to Junior High & Senior High school students

BLAST/Breakthrough Retreat Chaperone(s)

  • This position helps to plan & promote the retreat and enjoys fellowship with the students during the retreat.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Twice a year over a weekend, plus time as needed to help plan
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Criminal background check; Have a desire to minister to Junior High & Senior High school students

Bulletin Assembler(s)

  • This position assembles the worship bulletin with inserts each week.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Approx. 2-3 hours each Thursday in church office

Care Team Coordinator

  • This position organizes the efforts of the Care Team, pairs Care Team members with care assignments, and facilitates two training sessions per year for the Care Team members.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Approx. 1-5 hours weekly

ESL Administrative Assistant

  • This position works behind the scenes to keep the ESL program running smoothly. There may be need for data entry, updating or helping to create handouts, or writing announcements for MPC publications.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Flexible
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; No experience necessary; Some basic computer skills.

ESL Conversation Partner(s)

  • This position talks with the students one-on-one to enhance student skills in listening, understanding, speaking, and pronunciation.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Flexible
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; No experience necessary; No foreign language skills necessary; Training is available from many sources.

ESL Registrar

  • This position helps students complete the registration process, gives & scores placement tests, and receives registration fees.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - 1x/week on Wednesday from 9-11am; 1x/week on Thursday from 7-8pm
  • Service Prerequisites - None

Harvest Sunday Evening Team Member(s)

  • This position assists the team in cleaning and set-up of the Fellowship Hall for Harvest meetings
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Weekly, Sundays from 4:30-6:30pm
  • Service Prerequisites - Able to lift heavy objects.

Kingdom Kids Children’s Church Assistant(s)

  • This position assists the Children’s Church Leader in getting the children to the proper room. The Assistant also takes attendance and helps with the children as needed.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - 1 x/quarter, Sundays; 1 hour; Attend quarterly planning meetings for approx. 2 hours
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Must complete application and form for background check; Loves teaching children about worship and guiding them in how to worship.

Kingdom Kids Ministry Helper(s)

  • This position helps the children’s ministry staff with various needs.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Flexible hours as needed
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; No experience necessary - just a willing heart!

Kingdom Kids Sunday Morning Supervisor(s)

  • This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of Sunday morning programs while in progress.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - 1x/month on Sundays; Approx. 1.5 hours; Attend teachers meeting quarterly, approx. 2 hours
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Must complete application and form for background check; Loves being a resource, helping teachers & assistants, and enjoys greeting newcomers and getting children situated

Library Assistant(s)

  • Assists patrons with circulation of materials on Sunday.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - 1x/month on Sunday; 10:30-11:00am and/or 12:00-12:45pm
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Training provided

Men’s Ministry Emcee

  • This position will act as Emcee for each men’s ministry gathering; participate as a leadership team member; assist in planning and preparation for scheduled events; and help identify speakers for events.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Breakfasts occur the first Saturday of each month from 8-9:30am;
  • Approx. 2-3 hours monthly for administrative details
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member (Elder preferred); Knowledgeable of speaker topics & speakers that are relevant to men; Good communication skills; Consistently attend ministry events

Men’s Ministry Communications Coordinator

  • This position directs communication between MPC and the men’s ministry to ensure all are informed for upcoming events. Communications consist of mass email, letter mailings, and flyer distribution.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - 1-2 hours/month; 20 minutes on Sundays between services
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member; Comfortable using PC’s; Consistently attend ministry events

Men’s Ministry Treasurer

  • This position works with MPC and the men’s ministry to ensure proper financial stewardship and allocation of funds for the men’s breakfast and other planned events.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Approx. 2 hours/month
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member; Ability to balance a checkbook; Consistently attend ministry events

Missionary Care Committee Members

  • Members of this committee focus on either foreign or domestic ministries that MPC supports, and serves them by reading newsletters & annual reports, prayer, and giving input on policy and funding decisions.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Two year renewable term; Generally meet 1x/month
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member; Interest in outreach and missions; Assist with volunteer activities like annual Missions Conference and “Adventures in Missions” events; Participate in annual budget planning process; Attend luncheons and specially-called meetings

Missions Conference Director

  • This position is responsible for planning & executing the annual missions conference. The Director would build a team to assist in this effort.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Conference in March; Hours vary but intensify as conference date arrives
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member; Interest in outreach and missions; Participate in annual budget planning process; Attend luncheons and specially called meetings

Missions Conference Co-Coordinator

  • This position serves to assist the Conference Director in planning the annual missions conference.

Missions Children’s Conference Coordinator

  • This position works with the missions committee to make the theme of the conference real & accessible for children & families of MPC.

  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member; Interest in outreach and missions; Attend luncheons and specially called meetings

(Short-term) Missions Trip Organizer

  • This position coordinates administrative aspects of a short-term missions trip for MPC participants. This may include tasks such as pre-trip training or team-building, ticket purchases, assisting with fund-raising activities and raising awareness within the congregation, ensuring that travel and logistics while on the trip are arranged, and planning de-briefing exercises for the team after their return.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Hours vary
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member; Has previously taken a short-term missions trip; Good organizational skills; Participating in the trip NOT a requirement

Usher(s)

  • This position greets people upon entry to the Sanctuary for worship, collects & counts the offering, & counts worship attendance.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Serve during one service, once a month; Approx. 1.5 hours/month
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender

Women’s Ministry (Tuesday AM Bible Study) Childcare Coordinator

  • This position is responsible for supervising the childcare workers Tuesday mornings during the Women’s Bible study time and ensuring all MPC childcare policies are adhered to.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Approx. 4 hours per week from September-May; Would still be able to attend the study
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender

Women’s Ministry Conference Committee Member(s)

  • This position assists the Conference Coordinator in one or more areas of planning for the Women’s fall & spring brunches.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Varies depending on assignment; Approx. 2-3 hours on day of brunch
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Skills in event planning helpful but not necessary

Women’s Ministry Conference Coordinator(s)

  • This position is responsible for leading a committee of women who plan food, registration, publicity, and the speaker care for the Women’s fall & spring brunches.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Each brunch involves a two month planning commitment; Brunches usually held in September & April
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member; Strong communication & coordination skills; Ability to lead a group of women to accomplish tasks; Attend the monthly Women’s Council meetings

Women’s Ministry Retreat Committee Member(s)

  • This position works together as a group of women to plan and execute the women’s annual retreat.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Held in February each year; 1 meeting in Nov. & Dec.; 2 meetings in Jan.; Other times as necessary
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Skills in event planning are helpful but not required

Women’s Ministry Retreat Coordinator

  • This position plans & executes all aspects of the women’s annual retreat.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Held in February each year; 1 meeting per month in Nov. & Dec.; 2 meetings in Jan.; Extensive email & phone work w/hotel, speaker & committee

Worship Special Events Coordinator

  • This position assists in organizing details of special visiting choirs or other music events. It may also include planning for receptions and securing housing for the visiting choirs.
  • Service Hours/Frequency - Varies, up to 10 hours per event; Work can be done at home
  • Service Prerequisites - MPC Member or Regular Attender; Good organizational skills a plus
