Adopt-a-Missionary

  • Anyone can adopt a missionary – and do so individually, as a family, Home Fellowship Group, or community. You commit to pray for a specific MPC-sponsored missionary and to keep up with that missionary’s updates. Interaction beyond prayer is encouraged, but not a requirement. You’re welcome to get as involved as you like! Consider email correspondence, sending packages, hosting them in your home, or hosting the Coffee Table Sunday morning in your missionary’s honor. (Please inform the Missions Coordinator when you select a missionary so that she can help faciliate communication).
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Hours vary
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Willingness to pray

Coffee Table Host Group

  • The Coffee Table in the Grand Foyer on Sunday mornings is hosted by three or more volunteers who represent MPC ministries or MPC-supported ministries. Proceeds support that particular sponsored ministry. Responsibilities to be a ‘Host Group’ include making coffee, arranging for baked goodies to be offered alongside the coffee, serving and clean-up. Click here for more information.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1-3 hours on Sunday morning; Groups can sign up for one or more Sundays
  • Service Prerequisites – Represent an approved MPC ministry or MPC-sponsored ministry; Basic familiarity with the kitchenette

Coffee Table Ministry Team

  • Members of this team keep the Coffee Table Host Groups operating smoothly. They perform such services as taking inventory of and restocking consumable products, orienting new Host Groups, advertising availability of the Coffee Table, and scheduling groups to work the Coffee Table.
  • Service Hours/Frequency –  1-3 hours per month
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Familiarity with the kitchenette

McLean Day Coordinator

  • The person in this position makes it possible for MPC to participate in this community festival known as ‘McLean Day.’ Responsibilities include choosing a craft/activity, recruiting volunteers, and leading the event.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Annually; Day of event, approx. 8am-5pm
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC member or regular attender; ethusiastic and friendly disposition; appreciation of children; good organizational skills (or co-coordinator to assist)

Missionary Care Committee Members

  • Members of this committee familiarize themselves with a particular group of ministries that MPC supports, and serves them by reading newsletters & annual reports, through prayer, and by giving input on policy and funding decisions. Can also assist with volunteer activities like annual missions conference, participate in annual budget planning and review process, and attend luncheons and specially called meetings.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 2 year renewable term; Generally meet 1x month
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member; Interest in outreach and missions

Missions Correspondent

  • This position sorts through the correspondence that comes in from the mission field in a given month to find prayer points that should be included in our monthly ‘Notes from the Field’ section of our church website. These prayer summaries are used by many to keep up with our precious missions partners and to pray for them more effectively.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1-2 hours per month
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Basic computer & proofreading skills; Email access

Missions Display Team

  • Members of this team adapt photos and information about MPC missionaries, opportunities to serve, and upcoming events to be displayed in the Missions display case in the Grand Foyer.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – 1-3 hours approx. 1 wk/month
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member or Regular Attender; Interest in outreach and missions; Basic computer skills, creativity a bonus!

Short-term Missions Trip Organizer(s)

  • This position coordinates administrative aspects of a short-term missions trip for MPC participants. This may include tasks such a pre-trip training or team-building, ticket purchases, assisting with fundraising activities, raising awareness within the congregation, ensuring that travel and logistics (while on the trip) are arranged, and planning debriefing exercises for the team after their return.
  • Service Hours/Frequency – Hours vary
  • Service Prerequisites – MPC Member; Has previously taken a short-term missions trip; Good organizational skills; Participating in the trip NOT a requirement
